Over the past year, MeshMap has been quietly building something powerful, a bridge between creativity and the technologies shaping the future of art and storytelling. From mapping real-world landmarks to teaching immersive design through Unity and our own MeshMap SDK, every workshop and prototype has led to this moment: the launch of the MeshMap XR Creator Program.

This new initiative marks a milestone in our mission to empower local artists to tell stories in extended reality (XR), blending culture, technology, and imagination into immersive experiences that reimagine how people connect with place and memory.
The MeshMap XR Creator Program is a four-week grant program designed to help artists, designers, and technologists create original XR works using the MeshMap SDK.
Kicking off on November 24, 2025, the program will guide selected creators through concept development, immersive design, and production. Each artist receives compensation for their work, along with mentorship from the MeshMap team and technical support to bring their vision to life inside real-world 3D scanned environments.
The program culminates in a public experience at the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico (MAPR) on January 18, 2026, where visitors will step inside the artists’ worlds through spatial experiences powered by MeshMap.
For this inaugural cohort, four incredible Puerto Rican artists are joining the program, each bringing a unique creative language and vision of the island into XR:

Together, they represent the spirit of what MeshMap stands for: collaboration, experimentation, and rooted innovation.
At MeshMap, we believe Puerto Rico is more than a backdrop, it’s a living story that deserves to be experienced, preserved, and reimagined in new dimensions.
Through our partnership with the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico and its Centro de Desarrollo para la Comunidad Creativa (Center for Creative Community Development), the program becomes a platform to nurture and elevate the island’s creative talent. By providing access to technology, mentorship, and creative funding, we’re investing in the next generation of XR artists who will shape how Puerto Rican culture is seen and shared globally, turning immersive media into a tool for cultural empowerment and innovation.

This initiative builds on the success of our previous workshops with institutions like Atlantic University and Holberton School, where we introduced students to Unity, 3D scanning, and spatial storytelling. Now, with the XR Creator Program, we’re taking the next step, from learning to creating, and from prototypes to public experiences.
The journey doesn’t end in January. The MeshMap XR Creator Program is just the first of a series of initiatives aimed at growing the creator ecosystem.
We envision a future where creators, educators, and technologists collaborate using MeshMap to map and tell stories of their communities, transforming real spaces into interactive narratives accessible through Magic Leap, Meta Quest, and mobile AR.
Through this program, we’re not just building XR scenes, we’re building a movement of creators who see technology as a canvas for identity, imagination, and belonging.
Register to be the first on experiencing the the creators’ journey on January 18, 2026 in Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico.
